The customer journey to Cloud with cost savings and accelerated ACR can be broken down into three steps:
Step 1
There are two types of customers (either already on cloud in lift & shift mode or on-prem)
- Customers who know which app workloads to target for cloud-native migration and modernization (go directly to step 2) or
- Customers who need help at the portfolio level to help identify apps for cloud-native migration and modernization, requiring portfolio analysis
For Portfolio Analysis, we use CAST Highlight to narrow down the scope for modernization, focusing on custom-built applications and identifying the right candidate apps using the 5R approach. This provides a fast and data-centric view on the way forward, avoiding uncertainty and U-turns.
Step 2
Application Assessment
We conduct a deep dive assessment with CAST Imaging, reverse engineering architecture and dependencies of the applications, avoiding months of manual and subjective consulting days. Our solutions support 50+ technologies. For .NET workloads, we identify .NET 6+ and Linux incompatibilities, accelerating Azure native app migration. CAST also determines database dependencies, identifying candidates for microservices and database migration on Azure.
Step 3
Continuous Optimization
Plugging in AI, CAST+SI partners can enable continuous optimization of modernized applications and initiate new modernization activities for other applications, repeating Steps 1 and 2. This includes pinpointing application code that can be remediated to improve agility, scalability, security, and maintainability. The OpEx savings can be reinvested for new functionality development.
