BCG validates a high six-figure platform investment

“CAST rapidly built a system-wide fact base that gave us detailed insights of the codebase, tech stack, and the broader ecosystem, complementing our Data & Digital Platform approach to tech assessment and modernization planning.”

Keane Rao

Principal

BCG leveraged CAST Highlight and CAST Imaging to complement its Data & Digital Platform (DDP) and validate a high-six-figure platform investment.

Challenge

A global consumer client rapidly expanded a healthcare services unit to 5,000+ clinics across multiple brands. It built a cloud-native practice management system integrated with legacy environments. Investments produced little value amid poor data quality, operational inefficiencies, product-tech misalignment, and rollout issues, putting ROI at risk.

BCG was asked to conduct a diagnostic to evaluate the path forward, with a focus on architecture and code quality to guide future investment.

Solution

BCG leveraged CAST Highlight and CAST Imaging, plus a DDP-based architecture review, to deliver an AI-assisted technical assessment. BCG ran targeted scans on 5M+ PMS source lines in the client environment, producing insights on efficiency, security, modularity, and maintainability.

System-level findings informed 10+ workshops, evaluated scalability, extensibility, and reusability, clarified data-persistence and compute choices with Azure cost impacts, and completed the overall diagnostic.

Results

The diagnostic surfaced findings to unlock business value, sharpen functional requirements and technical design, and refresh the business case – boosting confidence in key investment priorities for this hundreds of thousands of dollars program.

The CAST-powered approach produced actionable insights from system-level analysis and architecture review: raise code quality and reuse, organize components via DDD-aligned microservices, strengthen observability and modularity, and lower Azure costs.
